Volume of Unit Cell

The unit cell can be described as a parallelepiped defined by the cell edges a, b, and c which are vectors.  The volume of such an object is well known from basic vector mathematics. 

First the three vectors must be resolved on a Cartesian coordinate system.  Take b coincident with the Y axis and a in the X-Y plane.
